A fairy tale by
Uberfetus.
I wouldn't consider it serious poetry, or even indicative of mature emotions, but it's a naughty little thing all you broken hearts can drown your sorrow in.
Early morning in early May
Can she avoid him for another day?
Avoid his words, avoid his face
Avoid any memories which could disgrace
A happy girl in a happy house
Smiling and whistling, pulling on her blouse
A fun game for a fun girl
Extinguishing him from her world
A boring love, a love which died
She watched the clock tick as he cried
Midnight came and midnight went
And on his merry way he was sent
A broken man, a broken toy
The rest of the night to find a new boy
Someone fun, someone fresh
Nothing got her off quite like new flesh
He tries to call, he tries to woo
Did she forget she once loved him too?
Stifling a yawn, and stifling the truth,
"No, I care a lot, and I still miss you!"
"Can we talk, can I know..."
"I'm sorry but I'm late, I have to go."
"A simple reason, a simple why..."
She hung up quickly after a forced "Goodbye."
Could answer him, could answer it
But that would force her to admit
That a good girl with a good heart
Perhaps was bad right from the start
That she could love, could get on her knees
For anything which walks and always agrees
The worst truth, the worst thing about her
That maybe she's never loved anyone, ever
So to shut him up and shut him out
She never answered when he called to pout
If they don't talk and if they don't date
She won't have to feel guilty about his state
Try not to think, try not to feel
Why's he so upset, what's the big deal?
Easy to leave, easy to dispose of
When you've never actually fallen in love
Her ex frowned, her ex cried
Her ex contemplated murder-suicide
One day she loved him, one day she did not
And nothing occured that caused love to rot
A perfect boyfriend, now perfectly sad
Remembering what she did might make her feel bad
So when there's a ring or knock on her door
Better to stay away and pretend to ignore
Early morning in early May
Can she avoid him for another day?
Avoid his words, avoid his face
Avoid any memories which could disgrace
A happy girl in a happy house
Smiling and whistling, pulling on her blouse
A selfish game for a selfish girl
Extinguishing him from her world
