A method of striking a drum head with drum sticks in such a way as to cause one stick to strike immediately before the other, causing an accented beat with an almost rolled quality to the beginning. More specifically, if the left stick strikes first, it is a "left flam", and if the right stick strikes first, it is a "right flam".
