Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla is a
private,
social organization in
Tampa, Florida. It began in
1904 and since that year the
Gasparilla pirate invasion and
festival have happened each
spring (or right before).
Membership in the Krewe is
exclusive. Consider it an '
old boys network', because only
men can be
pirates in Ye Krewe, and in the subsequent
parade and
invasion of
Tampa Bay, and they tend to be
prominent men in the
community.
