Andrés Segovia. A
classical guitar player. Considered to be one of the first great players. Helped to create
nylon strings which are used for classical guitars today, instead of animal guts. He lived from 1893 until 1987. The first person to develop the guitar as an
instrument. Prior to his
legacy the
guitar was never taken seriously as an instrument of any value in the world of classically trianed musicians. Though, Segovia's work transformed the guitar into something far more than what it was.
Some critics will say that pieces of music when
transcribed to guitar by Segovia, sound as if the
original composer had intended it to be that way.
