A
software sampler created by
Nemesys. Gigasampler streams
samples from the
hard disk in
real time, with very low
latency, assuming you've got the right kind of
card. Since samples are stored on disk instead of in
RAM, you can have
huge-ass samples. For instance, the
piano sound this thing ships with is one
gigabyte instead of a few paltry
megabytes.
I want one. But I have a few concerns about it, namely, it only works with DirectSound and GSIF compatible hardware, and I'm not sure there's a very large sample set available for it yet. But everyone I've seen post to newsgroups about this thing has loved it.
