Meatless meat is the common and informal term for fake, plant-based meats that are ostensibly indistinguishable from animal derived meat. While the term is certainly not settled in use, it currently means that a product contains no traditional meat, is not vat grown, but tastes like and has the texture of meat.

This is not an entirely new term, and has been used for meat-replacement products informally for years. However, it has recently changed its meaning slightly to refer specifically to the current wave of high quality mock-meat products, especially the products of Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods, which are intended to fully replace meat in look, taste, and texture, and can be used in exactly the same way as traditional meat products.
