Everything2.com experienced some hardware failure on Saturday April 5, 2003. Our primary webserver, spectre, went offline and the site was down for several hours. Unfortunately, while this happened I was out enjoying my saturday afternoon with my girlfriend and a pitcher of margarita.

Everything2 is now running off of willowisp, our backup and development webserver, but some other services have been affected, including:

  • Everything Daily Report mailings
  • @everything2.com email forwards -- (affected most of saturday, fixed now)
  • various RDF and content feeds are no longer generated -- (headlines.rdf is back up -- others will be left off, please request if you want them)
  • Homenode images are offline -- BACK UP and OLD-ASS! Re-upload 'em if you've changed 'em in the last 6 months!
  • HTTPS service -- (fixed now)

Also, we will probably be running at diminished capacity until we either get spectre up and running or come up with a solution using less hardware. This means pageload times will be slower, which I am very sorry for -- but we are aware of the problem and are working on it.

If there are additional services you notice missing not on the above list please message nate or jaybonci and we will get to it.

    Thank you for your patience.
