Players <a href="/title/hire">hire</a> and <a href="/title/equip">equip</a> a <a href="/title/gang">gang</a>, then <a href="/title/battle">battle</a> with other gangs in a <a href="/title/turn+based">turn based</a> <a href="/title/system">system</a> similar to the <a href="/title/squad+combat">squad combat</a> element of <a href="/title/X-Com">X-Com</a>.
<p>The first step is to create a <a href="/title/gang">gang</a>, unless you plan to use one of the included <a href="/title/default">defaults</a>. On the <a href="/title/headquarters">headquarters</a> screen, players may <a href="/title/hire">hire</a> <a href="/title/warrior">warriors</a>, <a href="/title/purchase">purchase</a> <a href="/title/equipment">equipment</a>, and <a href="/title/assign">assign</a> this <a href="/title/equipment">equipment</a> to their <a href="/title/warrior">warriors</a>. Once this is done, the <a href="/title/gang">gang</a> can be saved. It is now <a href="/title/ready">ready</a> for <a href="/title/battle">battle</a>.
<p>On starting a <a href="/title/battle">battle</a>, <a href="/title/player">players</a> may choose what <a href="/title/battlefield">battlefield</a> to <a href="/title/fight">fight</a> on, and <a href="/title/adjust">adjust</a> <a href="/title/lighting">lighting</a> and <a href="/title/vision">vision</a> modes. It's <a href="/title/strange">strange</a> because I only know Mike from <a href="/title/IRC">IRC</a>, and he doesn’t even live on the same <a href="/title/continent">continent</a> as I do.

They come from the <a href="/title/planet">planet</a> Fribbulus Xax. A Bloog has an <a href="/title/almond">almond</a> shaped body, with a pair of arms and a pair of legs. The Bloog’s <a href="/title/face">face</a> is at the center of the <a href="/title/body">body</a> and consists of one large red <a href="/title/eye">eye</a> and a <a href="/title/drool">drooling</a> <a href="/title/mouth">mouth</a>. Young Bloogs, called Blooglets, may be green, red, yellow, or blue, but adults are always green. The Bloogs <a href="/title/police">police</a> <a href="/title/important">important</a> areas with Blooguards, who are tougher and carry large <a href="/title/clubs">clubs</a>. They seem to have an interest in <a href="/title/devour">devouring</a> <a href="/title/human">human</a> <a href="/title/female">females</a>, such as <a href="/title/commander+keen">Keen</a>'s <a href="/title/babysitter">babysitter</a>.
<p>Despite their rather <a href="/title/barbaric">barbaric</a> nature, the Bloogs enjoy a level of <a href="/title/technology">technology</a> comparable to that of <a href="/title/human">Humans</a>. They have built <a href="/title/factory">factories</a>, <a href="/title/skyscraper">skyscrapers</a> and even an <a href="/title/space+station">orbital base</a>. I have it next to my bed). I hold it out to the <a href="/title/leader">leader</a> of the <a href="/title/Red">Red</a> <a href="/title/guy">Guys</a> and say, "I made this for you".
<p>Soon afterwards a small <a href="/title/boat">boat</a> comes <a href="/title/ashore">ashore</a> and a man in a <a href="/title/bright">bright</a> <a href="/title/blue">blue</a> <a href="/title/uniform">uniform</a> comes onto the beach from it. There might have been another man with him, but I'm not sure, at any rate that wasn’t important. The man in the <a href="/title/bright">bright</a> <a href="/title/blue">blue</a> <a href="/title/uniform">uniform</a> comes over to where I and the <a href="/title/Red">Red</a> <a href="/title/guy">Guys</a> are standing. They often give a great <a href="/title/boost">boost</a> to the game’s <a href="/title/replay">replay</a> value and <a href="/title/popularity">popularity</a>. Level editors have existed since the days of <a href="/title/Loderunner">Loderunner</a>. <a href="/title/Interest">Interest</a> in them became more <a href="/title/widespread">widespread</a> with the coming of <a href="/title/Doom">Doom</a> and its add-on <a href="/title/wad">wad</a> files. Today, many gamers find it a <a href="/title/disappointment">disappointment</a> if a game doesn’t have a level editor.
<p>By my reckoning, there are basically three types of level editors:
