Jon has worked on more projects than most people would realise - scripting the ad-libs on Have I Got News For You, writing bits for Harry Hill, and creating entire characters in Dead Ringers. He was also a writer for the 11 O'Clock Show, then for the fifth series, stepped in to replace presenter Ian Lee, after he walked out a week before the show was due to go on air.

Slightly more well known (because he doesn't hide in a list of writers at the end of the show) is Jon's music radio career. This started off in Canterbury's CTFM, where he presented along with his friend Andy Hurst. Doing the usual - playing music and being funny. But they got fired - the station manager insisted they say that the station was "Kent's Best Party" - but Jon and Andy maintained that this was actually in a crack house somewhere in town.

From here, they moved on to Capital Radio's Power FM in Southampton and Portsmouth. DAB allows for "crystal-clear" sound quality (although not quite CD quality), a more robust signal which is less prone to interference, better usage of frequencies to allow for more stations to be broadcast, and carriage of data information - such as text information displayed on tuners, and web pages to be displayed on computers.

Here in Glasgow, Scotland, local auction houses regularly advertise upcoming sales in the local papers, with brief lists of the types of goods to be sold. The sale is held in the auctioneers' warehouse, or sometimes in the property where most of the goods have come from.

The auction site is usually open for public viewing a day or two in advance, where each item for sale (a lot) can be inspected. Each lot has a number attatched, so that it can easily be identified in the sale, and a short description is found in the catalogue.

If there's something you want to buy, you'll need to register to get a bidder's number - merely a number printed on a piece of card so the staff know who's bought what - and there's usually a charge for this.
