The <a href="/title/day+before">day before</a> you want to make the rice place the apricots and prunes in a <a href="/title/quart+jar">quart jar</a> and the raisins in a <a href="/title/pint+jar">pint jar</a>. Fill the jars
with water and allow the fruit to soak <a href="/title/overnight">overnight</a>.<p>
The <a href="/title/next+day">next day</a>, bring the water to a <a href="/title/boil">boil</a> in a large <a href="/title/sauce+pan">sauce pan</a>. Add the rice, salt, and butter to the boiling water. <a href="/title/Reduce">Reduce</a> the heat,
cover, and simmer the rice, <a href="/title/stirring+occasionally">stirring occasionally</a>, until all of the water is absorbed into the rice.<p>

This pie has a tendency to make people <a href="/title/pucker">pucker</a> up. For the extra <a href="/title/sourpuss">sourpusses</a> at the table the pie can be served with extra lemon <a href="/title/sauce">sauce</a>! You could use the leftover <a href="/title/egg+white">egg whites</a> to make a <a href="/title/meringue">meringue</a> but the pie is best without the meringue.</i><p>
<a href="/title/Squeeze">Squeeze</a> the lemons to produce <a href="/title/juice">juice</a>. Place the <a href="/title/lemon+juice">lemon juice</a> in the top portion of a <a href="/title/double+boiler">double boiler</a>. Two to four players are each <a href="/title/deal">dealt</a> 13 cards from a standard 52-card <a href="/title/deck">deck</a>. Each player then <a href="/title/separate">separates</a> their hand into a 5-card <b>front hand</b>, a 5-card <b>middle hand</b>, and a 3-card <b>back hand</b>.
