  • Egyptian pharaoh Thutmose III puts down the Canaanite revolt, crushing the Canaanite coalition outside the city of Megiddo and then capturing the town after a seven-month siege. Megiddo was of such strategic importance, that upon its fall Thutmose is reported to have said in jubilation, "The capture of Megiddo is the capture of a thousand towns."
