July 20, 1956. The Linea Aeropostal Venezolana four-engine Super Constellation took off from New York's Idlewild Airport bound for Caracas, Venezuela. The plane developed engine trouble at 12:46AM and tried to return. It reached a point 32 miles east of Asbury Park before crashing. 74 people died.
