This entery from the Mommessin winery is another stop on my (apparent) quest to sample many fruits of the 1998 harvest in the Rhone valley. I should have stayed on the proverbial train, but the wine was only $7, so no big loss.

It has a nice, brilliant color with just a touch of the purple of youth. There was something unpleasant about the aroma, but I went ahead and took a sip. At room temperature, it had an unremarkable taste with a tiny bit of spiciness. I therefore chilled it a few degrees, which was a massive mistake. This masked the alcohol content and heightened the flavors, which were, in a word, obnoxious. Even at $7, stay away from this one--buy some Parallele 45 instead.
