20q.net is a web site that is an experiment in artificial intelligence.

At the site, you can play Twenty questions with the "AI". According to the site, as of the time of this write-up, it has played about 650,000 games, and has a success rate of about 35%.

Since the program learns as it plays, keeping track of information about each object it encounters, (an [oscillating fan is not an amphibian, a cat is not made of metal, an oil painting is not a sub-atomic particle) it gets better as time goes on, and more people play with it.

I'd love to study and understand the algorithms it uses. I'm especially interested in how it deals with contradictions, in eliminating choices.

Overall, a cool piece of technology.
