Actually, 4-H is also in urban areas. Not just farm areas. The four h's stand for: head, heart, hands, and health. (The 4-H pledge: As a true 4-H member, I pledge my *head* to clearer thinking, my *heart* to greater loyalty, my *hands* to larger service, and my *health* to better living, for my club, my community, my country and my world).

Having been in 4-H for ten years, I can say that the comment of gender stereotypes is invalid. When you join 4-H you have the opportunity to pick what project groups you want to join. The choices are many... I did archery, raised animals, learned how to cook and sew, leadership, etc. The majority of cooking group was made of males, though. And the majority of the archery group was made up of females.
