Her heartbeat knocks on the walls
Shaking the coffee table
Where her fragile love is placed.
She waits with wavering spirits
Flickering like the candlelight near her trembling breath.

She hears a noise
But it is only the beat
Of the throbbing in her head.

Then an angel appears
And helps herself to some chocolate
Smiles, nods and departs again.

Suddenly she knows that her doorbell will never ring
And her heart will never sing
And that she has fallen victim to
The gallant prince
Who only appears in fairy tales.
