A Wish for Wings That Work is a Christmas book written by Berkeley Breathed, creator of Outland and Bloom County. It tells the story of Opus, Breathed's penguin character, who sends a letter to Santa asking for wings that will allow him to fly. Of course, it ends up being the penguin wings Opus already has that save Santa in the end.

All controversies aside, this book has beautiful illustrations and an appropriate moral for people of all ages.

An animated version of this story was released to television in 1991.
