United Negro College Fund was also famously mangled by
Dan Quayle as "What a
waste it is to
lose one's
mind. Or not to have a mind is being very
wasteful. How true that is."
Ashley Pomeroy tells me that http://www.realchange.org/quayle.htm has it as "What a terrible thing to have lost one's mind. Or not to have a mind at all. How true that is." Other versions of the quotations exist, but all are clearly based on the original UNCF slogan.
