People categorize things. It's a fact of life, because it helps us make sense of our world. But some people take it way too far and only construct identities for other people (and often, themselves as well) based on what categories those people fit in. I once told a Catholic nun that I was a deist (which, in and of itself, isn't totally true), and she went nuts trying to figure out exactly what I believed; she still didn't comprehend that the Bible means next to nothing to me after our conversation. Not all Catholics are the same; not all geeks are the same; when you get right down to it, every single one of us is a totally unique entity. So watch your back for stereotypes and over-generalizations; before you know it, you might just be stuffed into a category not of your choosing.
