King of the Sabine town of Caenina. After the rape of the Sabines he was the first person to take up arms against Romulus. He accepted the latter's challenge and their duel took place before the two armies. Acron was killed by Romulus, who stripped him of his armour and dedicated it to Jupiter Feretrinus on the Capitol. This was the origin of the ceremony of the Opimian Spoils.
