A Latin phrase which means "to the stars we aspire". The motto of the National Space Society. Similar to the motto of the British Royal Air Force, which is Per Ardua Ad Astra.

Also translated as "Through our endeavours, the stars" and more commonly as "A rough road leads to the stars," this phrase is inscribed on the memorial plaque at the Apollo 1 launch pad on Cape Canaveral.
