Αμυλιυς

The fifteenth king of Albalonga, the son of Procas and brother of Numitor. Before his death Procas had divided the royal inheritance into two parts: one consisted of the treasure, the other of the kingdom. Numitor chose the latter but Amulius, relying on the wealth that had fallen to him, had no difficulty in driving out his brother and usurping his place. However despite all his precautions he was unable to prevent his niece Rhea from giving birth to the twins, Romulus and Remus, who eventually dethroned him, put him to death and restored power to their grandfather Numitor.
