Anemoscope

Anemoscope, an instrument for rendering visible the direction of the wind. In that commonly used there is a vane exposed to the wind acting upon an index moving round a dial-plate on which the 32 points of the compass are engraved.

A*nem"o*scope (#), n. [Gr. wind + -scope: cf. F. an'emoscope.]

An instrument which shows the direction of the wind; a wind vane; a weathercock; -- usually applied to a contrivance consisting of a vane above, connected in the building with a dial or index with pointers to show the changes of the wind.
