Full name: Anggun Cipta Sasmi. She was born in
Jakarta,
Indonesia on April 29,
1974.
She recorded her first album at age 9, and became a star in Indonesia. Her musical style was originally rock, but by age 19, she grew tired of this genre. In 1995, she moved to Paris, France.
Since then, she has recorded in French, Indonesian, and English. Her first English-language CD, Snow on the Sahara, was released in 1998.
Her current musical style can best be described (by me, at least) as Enigma meets Sade.
