After having invented the "What-If" machine, which displays an event when a "What-If" question is asked, the Professor asks the crew to try it out.
When Bender asks, what if he were a Giant Robot, the machine displays Bender as a Giant Killer Robot who befriends Fry.
When Leela asks, what if she were a little more impulsive, the machine extrapolates her killing of the crew.
And when Fry asks, what if he did not come to the future, the machine predicts that the universe would've ceased to exist and that Fry would've been trapped with Al Gore, Gary Gygax, Nichelle Nichols and Stephen Hawking in a void reality.
