Αργυρα

A Nymph of an Arcadian spring. She loved a handsome young shepherd called Selemnus. Her love for him lasted while he was young, but when he was no longer handsome she abandoned him. In his despair Selemnus died and was turned into a stream by Aphrodite. But when he still suffered for his love in spite of undergoing this change, Aphrodite granted him the gift of oblivion. This is why all who bathed in the Selemnus were able to forget the sorrows of love.
