The Association of Her Majesty's Inspector of Taxes or AIT was founded in 1902 when it called itself the Association of Tax Surveyors. Despite being an independent trade union that represents some 2,000 senior revenue officials employed by the Inland Revenue it is effectively an autonomous part of the FDA, with all its members also being members of the FDA.
