The downs.
The in-betweens.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

T-minus four days and counting until her bags are packed and she’s headed off down the road to begin yet another journey. This time it’s off to a dorm room at the University of Cincinnati with thousands of other kids, many of whom will be leaving home for the first time. Hopefully, everything that’s been done up to now have been building blocks for what lies ahead.

I still find myself in a sense of disbelief. I’ve got this strange feeling where I don’t know if I’m a sad kind of happy or happy kind of sad. She says she’s not nervous but I don’t believe her. We look at each other lately with resigned smiles and exchange knowing looks.

Hopefully though, we’ve done the best we could to prepare for it.

Godspeed on the latest journey.

May you make the most out of each and every step.

Love,

Dad
