Hilarious 1971 comedy from Woody Allen. Allen's prototypical character of Fielding Mellish - a New York product tester who is inept not only with women but also the world around him - begins as a low-level protester, quickly moving up the ranks to rebel and eventually dictator of a small carribbean island nation. Among its most famous scenes, Bananas features Allen trying his New York best to ignore the mugging and assault of the woman on next to him on the subway (featuring a young Sylvster Stallone as one of the assailants) and Allen ordering take-out for his entire rebel army.

Bananas was the film that established Woody Allen as a bankable star, giving him the clout to dabble in more serious dramatic films from then on.
