An extremely nasty form of punishment shooting that was practiced by some terror organisations in Northern Ireland.

The victim was usually tied up and then shot in the ankles, kneecaps and elbows, hence the name. The victim would either bleed to death or spend the rest of his life immobile or in a wheelchair to serve as a warning.

Punishment beatings and killings still take place in many parts of Northern Ireland but not to the same scale as the 70's and 80's when the troubles were at their peak.
