Ben Lomond is a 974 metre (3195 feet) tall mountain which rises up from the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, Scotland.

Because it is an area of beautiful scenery, popular with tourists, and because it is very easily reachable from the city of Glasgow and its surrounding towns, it is a very popular climb, second only to Ben Nevis. A long but safe and easy path leads directly to the summit and can be tackled by people of all ages and shapes, indeed, amongst some of those who are particularly fit there is something of a contest which involves going to the top and then coming back down in the shortest possible time. Contrary to what you may have read elsewhere, this mountain, like most in Scotland, is climbed in all seasons and in all weather.
