Benazir Bhutto was born in Karachi in 1953. After her early education in Pakistan she went to Radcliffe College and Oxford University. Her father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was hanged by General Zia. As the leader of the Pakistan People's Party she was sworn in as the first woman Prime Minister of an Islamic state on December 2, 1988.

Currently, she is in exile in London and is keen to return to Pakistan to contest elections. However, there are numerous charges of corruption against her and her husband, Asif Ali Zardari.
