The longhorn steer mascot of the University of Texas. Bevo first appeared in 1913 and was named after a local beer that no longer exists. One of the most famous stories regarding Bevo occurred in 1916. After UT defeated Texas A&M University that year in football, students from Texas A&M branded Bevo with "13-0", the score from the previous year. This proved to be a very serendipitous score as UT students hid the branding by altering the numerals to read "BEVO".

When it comes time to lay Bevo to rest, UT alumni throw a party where BBQ is served and Bevo is the "guest of honor." So to speak.
