This ain't your daddy's ginger ale, little girl. Blenheim's is spicy HOT stuff. The only place I ever found it was a now-closed Mexican joint in Nutley, NJ called Taco Diablo.

Blenheim's Ginger Ale comes in regular and hot varieties. The bottles are identical, except that the hot stuff has a red bottlecap to warn you of the intense flavor inside.

If you've never had a Blenheim's, start with the regular kind. Pour it over ice and practice inhaling its fizzy bouquet until you can do so without coughing. Sip. Work your way up to drinking it straight from the bottle. Don't take it amiss if your mouth starts tingling -- that's what it's supposed to do. This is not fugu soda, but sometimes it feels that way.

Personally, I drink the hot stuff straight from the bottle. But then, I'm certifiable.

Ingredients: Carbonated spring water, sucrose, citric acid, sodium benzoate as a preservative, natural flavoring and caramel color. (Ginger is not mentioned by name, but neither is Mary Ann.)
