Law formed the most important factor both in public and in private life in ancient Ireland. Brehon law was incorporated in many ways by the Irish Catholic Church reached its zenith before the 9th centure c.e. It was disturbed by the Roman Catholic Church but continued in use until finally abolished by the English in the 17th century.
