An instrument used, mainly by geologists, to determine the
dip and
strike of a
geologic formation.
It's a combination of a
compass,
level,
pointer, and
straight edge, arranged such that one can use the instrument as a
clinometer (to measure dip), and accurately measure the
orientation (strike) of a geologic feature.
