Friday, November 5, 1999, will be (or was, depending on your current time-space continuum) Burn all GIFs day, the day all people should burn their GIFs, either for real or virtually. Why? Because the evil Unisys company holds the LZW compression patent which is used to compress GIFs, and Unisys has created the evil plan to charge anybody who created GIFs with software not covered by an appropriate Unisys license $5000.

In other words: You no use software we wants, you gives us $5000!
