The genus Cacalia, despite being referenced by Webster1913, field guides of common flowers, and numerous websites, no longer exists. It is officially a nomen rejiciendum under the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature, and should not be used in current publications... although it often is.

The Cacalia were flowers in the family Asteraceae, generally tall herbs with tassel-shaped flower heads, originating in the forested mountains of Europe and Asia minor. They are often used in landscaping as transplanted wildflowers, the most popular probably being the various species of Indian Plantain. Many species that were once classified as Cacalia are now placed in the genera Emilia, Adenostyles, and Arnoglossum.
