The name of a very early king who according to an obscure tradition was said to have ruled over Latium at the time when the god Janus landed there after he had been exiled from his native country of Thessaly. Camesus welcomed the exile warmly and shared his kingdom with him; they ruled together for some time and when Camesus died, Janus ruled by himself.
