Located in the Scottish highlands, on the banks of the river Knockando, the Cardhu Distillery was established in 1824 by farmer John Cumming. Prior to 1824 it is said that Mr. Cummings ran an illicit distillery using his wife's baking to cover up the smell of the still. In 1884 the Cardhu distillery joined with Johnnie Walker.
