Casper Robert Van Dien Jr., born on December 18, 1968 in Florida, is an American actor best known for his breakout role as Johnny Rico in Paul Verhoeven's science fiction epic Starship Troopers (1997), based on the Robert A. Heinlein novel of the same name. Other notable works include starring in Tarzan and the Lost City in 1998, followed by a smaller but delicious part as the malevolent Brom von Brunt in Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow remake in 1999 with Johnny Depp and Christopher Walken.
After graduating from the Admiral Farragut Military Academy, he attended a prep school before moving to try his luck in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, his exceptional good looks was a detriment for getting roles. He was constantly referred to as a "living Ken doll", even by writers, with his boyish good looks and a strong square jawline.
While still working as an actor, he has not been able to match his success from Starship Troopers. As he gets older and develops some character-building wrinkles (unless he's immortal), there is a good chance he will resurface in more mature and leading man roles.
