The Cayuga are known to themselves as "Hodinoshone" which translates to "People of the Long House"; Also known as "People of the Marsh" and "Keepers of the Great Pipe". Although they are located in upstate New York the Cayugas have no reservation or land base of their own and mostly live on the Seneca reservation. They are one of the original five nations of the Iroquois Confederacy. The Cayuga Nation is small, consisting of about a thousand enrolled members. The Cayugas have a lake named after them it is one of the Finger Lakes. The Cayugas are one of the three "Younger Brothers" the others being the Oneidas, and the Tuscaroras.
