The name for Cecil Taylor's groups, dating back to the mid-60s. With the
rise of free jazz in NYC, CT was able to work on his conception of group
music with a pool of players who Got It. The first recordings, on Blue Note,&divvied compositions into "proper"-sized chunks, but his works by then had grown to orchestral lengths, and could induce (if you would get into it) a sense of timelessness akin to the much-quieter musics of a La Monte Young or a Morton Feldman.
