Native language of the island of Guam. As the native population of the island declines, so do the number of speakers. It is estimated that less than half the current population can get by in the language; perhaps 60-90 thousand people. It is also spoken in the Northern Mariana Islands. The language is classified as Austronesian, Malayo-Polynesian, Western Malayo-Polynesian, Chamorro. It is also known as Tjamoro.
