Chris Klein was born March 14, 1979 in Hinsdale, Illinois. Though he is probably best know for his role as Chris "Oz" Ostreicher in the 1999 film American Pie, he actually started his acting career straight out of high school playing Paul Metzler in the dark comedy Election in 1999. Chris normally plays the role of a stereotypical all-American teenager in films.
Chris's fall into stardom began when director Alexander Payne was scouting Klein's Nebraska high school as a possible setting for Election. Klein, late for class literally ran into Payne. Payne immediately recognized Klein as the perfect person to play a the dim-witted jock in the film. And as they say, "the rest is history".
