Col. Sponsz, villain of the Tintin books, may look Russian. However, he is in fact Bordurian. His home nation's regime is headed by a phantom diktat named Kürvi-Tâsch, references to whose whiskers are a favorite mild expletive among Bordurian agents. Sponsz has been sighted in the tumultuous South American republic of San Theodoros, working with the despised General Tapioca against the brave freedom fighter General Alcazar.

Sponsz tends to shave his head and affects the wearing of a monocle for reasons unknown.
