Composition B consists of castable mixtures of RDX and TNT; in some instances, desensitizing agents are added to the mixture. Composition B is used as a burster in Army projectiles and in rockets and land mines.

Composition B is a mixture approximately of 60 +/- 2% RDX and 40 +/- 2 % TNT with 1 +/- 0.03 % wax.

The purpose of mixing the two explosives is to combine the advatages of both explosives: power from RDX and stability and castability from TNT. Because it can be melt loaded it is used in making shaped charges, grenades, artillery shells, land mines.
