British Schools designed to replace Grammar Schools and Secondary Modern Schools, but combining most of what was bad about the latter with little of what was good about the former. The stereotypical Comprehensive School is made of grey concrete and was built in the 1960s. Anyone wanting better education now has to pay for it, in the interests of equality.
