The Connecticut
Alumni is a
drum corps based out of the
Lower Naugatuck Valley in
Connecticut. It is
officially comprised of around 75
members: 20
guard, 20
drum, and 35
horn.
The Connecticut Alumni was founded in 1984 by members of other Connecticut drum corps, most notably the Connecticut Hurricanes. The Alumni do not compete in field shows as Junior and Senior drum corps do, but rather have a mild exhibition and parade schedule to accomodate those who cannot or do not wish to adhere to the rigors of DCI competition.
The Corps' musical repertoire consists of a blend of traditional drum corps selections as well as more contemporary pieces. This year's selections include "Hallelujah Chorus", "Battle Hymn/America Medley", "Caravan", "After You've Gone", "Young Lions", "Summon the Heroes", "Mariah", "Donegal", "Al-Di-La", "Hang 'Em High" and the "Magnificent Seven".
The Connecticut Alumni is well known in Southern New England for their amazing sound and their friendliness and personality. They most often march in parades, but also perform in stand still shows here and there.
