Contrition of the Shallow

cold terror far beneath the veil of tears
sparked deep within her heart and in her eyes
a dampened blue, those orbs shew desperate fear
she knew i knew that all her words were lies

as desolation crossed her paling face
she sputtered half excuses to the breeze
i gazed at her and calmly stood my place
as she begged me for forgiveness from her knees

her tears spilled down as morning came to cold
she trembled, pleading with me for reprieve
set like stones, my glittering eyes turned gold
and smirking, then, i turned around to leave

i told her then, i found her rather droll
but i was not the one to save her soul
